Beaming into Giles Miller Studio
This year’s London Design Festival marked the 1st anniversary of the Surfaces Range from Giles Miller one of the innovative designers we showcase here in the studio.
It proved to be a busy period with the launch of further surfaces to add to the already dazzling portfolio, some exciting new projects and the launch of Beam laser cutting, a facility set-up with new business partner Marcus Sharp. As part of the studio’s exciting and forward-thinking development plan Beam will operate from the front of the studio at their new premises on Toynbee Street in London’s buzzing Spitalfields. Not only do the boys have one of the highest quality British manufactured machines in the business they also offer one of the lowest hourly rates in the capital. Pop by and see for yourselves- it’s the perfect excuse to see grab a sneak peep at the latest studio work whilst there!
Had you of made a recent visit you might have been lucky enough to discover them hard at work putting together some of Giles’ now signature ‘Fluted’ cardboard surfaces incorporating legendary British fashion designer Stella McCartney’s classic Horse imagery for a 4m high wall in Selfridges Department store. The team have also been hard at work creating an exciting new surface for the internationally renowned Ritz-Carlton. Inspired by products seen at their launch show 1 year ago Ritz-Carlton asked the studio to develop a bespoke surface to show their Lions Head logo but incorporating a clover-shaped pixel. The result was a 3-dimensional image like no other, where even the individual pixels became objects of beauty in their own right.
Other projects that are coming to fruition in the coming weeks include a 3-dimensional cardboard mural being installed in the extravagant Met Bar, part of the Metropolitan Hotel on Park Lane, as well an ambitious project involving a 4-storey Christmas tree commissioned by the London Design Museum to be located in their central atrium from mid-November.... watch this space!
They’ve even had time to revamp their Website as well as launching Beam’s very own site. For more information and guaranteed information why not pay them a visit at:
