G . F Smith launches its new home to celebrate 131 years of paper

12.12.2016

If you happen to be walking along Eastcastle Street in W1 today, you'll spot a brand new space by papermakers G . F Smith . Housed over two floors in an elegant building just off Oxford Street, the 'Show Space' is a place to meet the brand's paper consultants, discover the latest products and learn more about its remarkable 131 year old history.

Developed by Made Thought , and designed in collaboration with architects d-raw, the bold, contemporary and engineered space has a dark grey colour palette matched to one of the most popular of G . F Smith's Colorplan shades, and designed to "provide the perfect backdrop to showcase the visual and textural subleties of paper".

At the heart of Show Space is a 14-metre Collection Wall presenting every paper G . F Smith has created or discovered, spanning every shade in the iconic Colorplan range.

Downstairs, the White Space gallery will present a shifting series of exhibitions, ranging from creative takeovers from partner brands and designers to illuminating insights into art and science of paper-making. At launch, the gallery will host Tidal – an ocean-themed G . F Smith contribution to the Kyoorius Designyatra festival, held in the pink city of Jaipur in September, to mark the launch of Colorplan in India.

Make sure you pop along and discover the latest paper materials. And see if you love the opening window display too. Entitled Turbulence, it's inspired by air where rods of coloured paper are seemingly hurled from one end to the other, creating an explosive riot of colour. Discover more at gfsmith.com .
